MARK VAN HOLMES is an American songwriter, musician, and acclaimed recording artist. MVH, a Berklee College of Music alum, worked in Los Angeles for more than forty years in both the record and film & TV industries. Since relocating to the East Coast in 2017, MVH has continued to foster his lifelong commitment to creating exceptional musical textures, as illustrated in his 2021 release of Mark Van Holmes & Friends: Live in LA. Along with the daily discipline of working to complete his first novel, MVH's focus for the first quarter of 2024 is completing his 25th and 26th albums. Recording sessions are scheduled for Los Angeles and Nashville.

As a seriously dedicated songwriter, I view the art of making music as more of a creative endeavor than a passionate desire to master an instrument. The spark for me in the late 1960s was Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde album. Drawing from that catalytic moment in time, my bands have always been about working with musicians who share my urge to figure out how to create good songs and turn them into cool-sounding records. The urge continues. - -MVH
Speaking to my perennial dedication to a creative life, the albums cataloged here are a substantial portion of my recorded musical works. I am the primary songwriter for the majority of songs, with credits published as “Words & Music by Mark Van Holmes.” My publishing company, Jailbird Records, has published all my music since 1984, with the release of my 45 rpm, Giants Theme.
